Gordon Hayward, Charlotte Hornets

Quietly, Gordon Hayward has become somewhat of a forgotten man during his tenure with the Charlotte Hornets. And with the Hornets likely heading into a bit of a rebuild, Hayward’s value to the team is going to tank. If the Hornets do elect to sell some of their assets, Hayward is a good bet to be one of the first veterans to be moved.

The difficulty with trading Hayward at this year’s NBA Trade Deadline is that he still has a guaranteed contract for next season. If he was on an expiring contract, I would bet that he would be moved at the trade deadline. Even though that’s still a possibility, it’s understandably less likely.

Still, I believe there’s a good shot that he could be moved during the offseason. He’ll be on an expiring contract at that point and the Hornets would have a greater understanding of what their immediate future will look like.
