NBA Trade Rumors: Rival teams are calling the Miami Heat about the potential availability of Bam Adebayo.

Coming off a run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, it’s fair to suggest that the Miami Heat‘s season thus far has been a disappointment. They are currently ranked 7th in the Eastern Conference with a 20-18 record. They lack proper consistency and their supporting cast is not playing at the same level as they did last season.

They’ve essentially been a disaster. The one saving grace for the Heat this season, however, has been Bam Adebayo who has seemingly taken another step in his progression. During his sixth season in the league, Bam is averaging a career-high 22 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists per game on 54 percent shooting from the field.

It’s a shame that the rest of the team has struggled this season because Bam has truly come into his own as a No. 1 option for the team so far this season. In fact, it’s gotten so bad for the Heat this season that rival teams are reportedly calling the team about the possible availability of Bam ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline.

The Miami Heat may be down bad, but not that bad

The Heat may not be having the season that they expected but they’re not having that bad of a season. And the good news is that they have begun playing better as of late.

So it’s not surprising that the Heat have no interest in discussing potential deals for Bam at this point. Considering that they weren’t even willing to include Bam in any trade talks with the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant during the offseason, none of this should really be surprising.

The expectation is that Miami will be active in the weeks leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline, but more so as a buyer than a seller. It’s rare when this franchise embraces being a seller at the deadline and it’s hard to envision them doing so this year.

Even though the Heat doesn’t appear to be on the same wavelength as the likes of the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, or even the Philadelphia 76ers, or Cleveland Cavaliers, the fight that this team has made a name behind will not stop.

The Heat is not trading Bam. Not at the trade deadline, perhaps not ever (if it’s up to them). But it is an interesting idea and you can’t really fault rival teams from doing their due diligence.
