New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans have quietly been one of the best stories in the NBA this season. Entering this season with many questions, this team has thoroughly answered each of them. This is a team that perhaps was a bit ahead of schedule and has proved that through the first half of the season.

They’re currently sitting in the third seed in the conference and are within shouting distance (1-2 games) back of the top seed. Unfortunately, they’ll have to survive the next few weeks (at least) without Zion Williamson. It will be interesting to see how the team handles that big of an injury.

Nevertheless, even with the Zion injury aside, this is a team that needs to make a move at the NBA Trade Deadline if they expect to make a deep run in the playoffs. The Pelicans may be viewed as a team that is still 1-2 years away from being a real factor in the West, but they could cut some of that time off if they can find a difference-maker and remain healthy during the second half of the season.
