NBA Trade Rumors: The Indiana Pacers may be one step closer to moving Myles Turner at the NBA Trade Deadline.
As one of the more surprising teams in the NBA this season, the Indiana Pacers have been competitive to a level that perhaps not even their own front office could’ve envisioned. Because of that, it has complicated some of the team’s expected plans heading into the NBA Trade Deadline.
In fact, it was reported a couple of weeks ago that the team was discussing a contract extension with one of the team’s expected trade deadline candidates, Myles Turner. A player that was expected to be one of the most sought-after trade deadline candidates was now all but off the market for the moment.
At least that was the perception. However, that kind of all changed after a recent report insisted that Turner was rebuffing all contract offers from the Pacers. Couple that report with one that suggested the Pacers would move forward with trading Turner if they didn’t agree to an extension before the deadline and we could be closer to finding a resolution between the two.
Does this signal that Myles Turner wants a trade away from the Indiana Pacers?
It’s tough to decipher what this actually means for both the Pacers and Turner moving forward. On one hand, this could all mean that Turner is holding out for a specific extension number that the Pacers haven’t gotten to. I’m not sure what the Pacers are offering Turner, but he’s likely a player that is going to be able to get a huge contract offer on the open market.
Maybe the Pacers get to that number after this report. We shall wait and see.
What this report could also mean is that perhaps Turner has played this game for the last time and is ready for a fresh start on a new team. Turner is not new to the rumor mill. It seems like he makes an appearance on the rumor mill for the Pacers every NBA Trade Deadline. He may be tired of that and perhaps is ready to control his own destiny this time around.
On a human level, it’s hard to blame him for that if that is indeed the situation.
Either way, the next few weeks should be interesting for both the Pacers and Turner. And if the tea leaves are correct, it seems like we may end up seeing Turner moved at the trade deadline after all.
