NBA Trade Rumors: The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly looking for a star power forward ahead of next month’s NBA Trade Deadline.
Just when it felt as if the Brooklyn Nets were hitting their stride this season, they’re going to have to survive the next few weeks (at least) without Kevin Durant. In all likelihood, they’re going to have to make a decision at the NBA Trade Deadline with Durant still sidelined with an injury.
But I think it’s safe to say that the Nets have done enough to prove that this is a team that is close to championship contention in the Eastern Conference. And with the NBA Trade Deadline quickly closing in, a recent report says that the Nets are looking for another star player, likely one that can play the power forward position next to Kyrie Irving, Durant, Ben Simmons, and Nic Claxton (who has emerged as a force for the team).
Though, finding the right piece could be easier said than done.
Could John Collins be an option for the Brooklyn Nets?
Based on this recent reporting, it would seem that there’s likely one realistic option on the trade block for the Nets at the moment. John Collins. Even then, I’m not sure if Brooklyn could even make a deal happen. But a lot of that depends on what the Hawks actually want. And who knows?
A recent report suggested the Hawks want a huge haul in any deal for Collins. But I have a hard time envisioning that any team will be willing to offer such a deal. And if the Hawks truly want to move Collins ahead of this year’s NBA Trade Deadline, perhaps the Nets could steal him with a lowball offer?
But it’s pretty clear that the Nets would be interested in a deal for Collins. He fits the mold of what the team needs at the power forward position and is a player that could make a difference, especially on the offensive end. And with his athleticism, perhaps he can find another gear in a fresh start on the defensive end.
The Nets clearly feel that they are one piece away from winning a championship. And with how they’ve played recently, it’s hard to blame that thought process. The question is, can they find the right piece ahead of the trade deadline?
