Los Angeles Lakers
It should not be a surprise to see the Los Angeles Lakers on this list. The Lakers should be in on every difference-maker that becomes available at the NBA Trade Deadline. Gary Trent Jr. should be no different. While there remains much mystery as to whether or not the Lakers are actually going to make a move at the deadline, I’m sure LeBron James’ recent interview is going to do nothing but add more pressure on the front office.
Trent is a player that may not add much on the defensive end (though a change of scenery could very much help) but is one that could potentially take some much-needed pressure off of the Lakers’ “big three” on that end of the floor. If the Lakers don’t want to make the commitment to a Buddy Hield beyond this season, Trent may be the next best target.
The asking price is where this could all get blurry or complicated for the Lakers but it’s something that this front office should consider exploring. If at the right price, the Lakers could add Trent at the deadline, it could possibly be viewed as a game-changing move for their playoff chances.
