Trade target: Josh Richardson, G, San Antonio Spurs

The Cleveland Cavaliers are a team that may be a move or two away at the NBA Trade Deadline from being viewed as a real contender in the Eastern Conference. The acquisition of Donovan Mitchell couldn’t have been going any better for the Cavs and as this team’s young core continues to develop, this team is only going to grow stronger and stronger.

But if the Cavs don’t want to wait for their young core to catch up with Mitchell, perhaps they would be open to adding a contributing two-way player such as Josh Richardson. He may not be a big name but is certainly a player that could help the team on multiple fronts.

For one, he could help take some of the defensive pressure off of Mitchell and/or Darius Garland when he’s sharing the floor with them. He’s also a good 3-point shooter that doesn’t necessarily need the ball in his hands to be effective offensively.

Richardson would be an intriguing addition if the Cavs want to take a step forward at the deadline.
