NBA Trade Rumors: Miami Heat interested in D’Angelo Russell ahead of deadline
NBA Trade Rumors: With the NBA Trade Deadline closing in, the Miami Heat has officially registered interest in a possible deal for D’Angelo Russell.
The Miami Heat‘s season hasn’t gone to plan through the first half of the season and if they want to have any hopes of turning things around in the next couple of months before the playoffs, they’re going to need to make some sort of adjustment to the roster at next month’s NBA Trade Deadline.
Knowing how the Heat operates, they are going to have their eyes on making a big move. Something that could propel them up the Eastern Conference standings during the push toward the playoffs.
There were hints earlier this season that the Heat could be interested in D’Angelo Russell. Now, it appears those hints have become crystal clear. According to multiple reports, the Heat has in fact registered interest in a possible move for Russell.
But is this rumor more about the possibility of Russell in a Heat uniform or possibly the end of another player’s tenure in a Heat uniform?
This rumor may be more about the Miami Heat trying to move Kyle Lowry
With everything that has been reported recently, I’m starting to believe that the Heat is genuinely trying to move Kyle Lowry ahead of the trade deadline. He hasn’t been an ideal fit with the Heat since he was signed a couple of offseasons ago and has taken another step back this season.
If the Heat can find a way to get off his deal for next season, there’s a chance that this team could take another swing with this core next offseason. But with him on the roster, it’s hard to see a clear move to adding another significant piece for the foreseeable future.
If the Heat could swap Lowry for Russell, they’d be foolish to not do the move. At this point, the Heat needs to try anything they can to try and shake things up. Clearly, the status quo hasn’t worked out.
I’m not sure if the Heat is going to be able to pull off a big enough move at the trade deadline to jump-start this team during the second half of the season, but it’s always safe to assume that this front office is going to try. And it’s starting to look like such a move will likely be centered around Lowry.
