The Dallas Mavericks trade Christian Wood

Even after losing Jalen Brunson during the offseason, all things considered, the Dallas Mavericks have been pretty good this season. However, with the expectation that some would-be contenders are going to surge in the second half of the season, the Mavs don’t have the luxury to stand pat at the NBA Trade Deadline.

They will be looking for another star to stick next to Luka Doncic but something else that the Mavs will have to figure out before the deadline is whether or not they’re going to re-sign Christian Wood to a long-term extension.

Wood is an expiring contract after this season and if they view him as a big piece of what they’re building around Luka, it would be wise to figure that up before the trade deadline. Because if not, perhaps they should move him to avoid possibly losing him for nothing during the offseason.
