NBA Rumors: The latest rumblings out of Los Angeles are that Anthony Davis could return from injury very soon for the Lakers.
If the Los Angeles Lakers are going to make a run during the second half of the season, there are several things that need to fall their way. First, they proabbly need to make quite a significant move at the NBA Trade Deadline. From all the reporting, it sounds like the Lakers are going to try to make it happen. Aside from that, the Lakers are going to need a full bill of health down the stretch.
Specifically, the Lakers are going to need a fully healthy Anthony Davis. And it seems, at least on that front, things seem to be heading in the right direction. According to a recent report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the hope is that AD will make his return to the floor for the Lakers at some point in the next couple of weeks. Specifially, with a few games to spare before the NBA’s All-Star break.
The All-Star break is Feburary 17, so that means the hope is that AD can make his return to the floor at some point in early Feburary.
The Los Angeles Lakers need a healthy Anthony Davis down the stretch
In AD’s absence, the Lakers have done a fair job to remain afloat in the Western Conference standings. The Lakers may be in 13th place in the standings but it’s important to remember that they’re just three games back of the sixth seed. One winning streak and this team will be right back into the thick of the West playoff race.
If that is going to happen, they’re going to need a healthy AD. His recent injury was unfortunate because he was finally beginning to play like his former MVP-level self. In 25 games played this season, AD is averaging 27 points and 12 rebounds on 59 percent shooting from the field. He’s also been very good for the Lakers on the defensive end of the floor.
The Lakers need AD back in the worse way. And if he does return and can play at the level he was at the beginning of the season, it’s not outlandish to believe the Lakers may have a second half run in them.
The next few weeks will be vital for the Lakers’ chances this season. And for several reasons.
