NBA Trade Rumors: Heading into the NBA Trade Deadline, the Phoenix Suns may be looking to find Chris Paul’s replacement.
If the rumor mill is any indication, the Phoenix Suns continue to be one of the most aggressive teams with the NBA Trade Deadline just a couple of weeks away. Heading into the stretch run, the Suns have quite of bit of room to make up in the Western Conference standings. And they may need some reinforcements at the trade deadline to help on that front.
And according to a recent report, there is a sense that the Suns could be looking to find Chris Paul’s eventual replacement at the deadline. Three of the names that the Suns have been linked to on that front are Terry Rozier, Immanuel Quickley, and Fred VanVleet.
It may be a bit shocking to hear that the Suns may be scanning the market for a potential Paul replacement, but it would be wise for the team to have some sort of plan soon. Paul has struggled this season with his consistency and he’s going to be 38 years old when the playoffs start.
Paul is still under contract for two more seasons but it would be foolish for the Suns to not prepare for the eventual drop-off.
The Phoenix Suns will look to flip the switch down the stretch
The Suns have some ground to make up in the push toward the playoffs. Phoenix got off to a quick start to the season but has been decimated by injuries. If the Suns can slowly get healthy and add a piece or two at the trade deadline, it would not be surprising if this team rounded back into form by the time the playoffs rolled around.
And with a player as dynamic as Devin Booker is, this team is always going to have a chance in a seven-game series. The Suns have been close to winning a title but took somewhat of a step back last season. There is much on the line heading into the playoffs this season.
If the Suns suffer another early playoff exit this season, it could spark some major change for the team heading into the offseason. Aside from Booker, there is much that could be changed on this roster. Even more so considering that there was doubt as to whether or not Deandre Ayton was part of this team’s long-term plans just a few months ago.
How the Suns operate at the NBA Trade Deadline could give us a sneak peek at what possibly could await this team during the offseason.
