The case for targeting Buddy Hield for the Miami Heat

Making a case for the Miami Heat making a bold move and targeting Buddy Hield is clear – the front office believes that this team is close to competing in the Eastern Conference. And if they’re healthy, I’m not sure they’re that wrong. But one thing is clear – if this team is going to have any shot of making a deep playoff run, they’re going to have to shoot the ball better.

Hield would immediately upgrade the team in that department. He’d also bring in another dynamic offensive angle that the team doesn’t currently have beyond Tyler Herro – and even he has had his inconsistencies this season.

Hield is also under contract for next season, so this would essentially be a two-year experiment. If the Heat is not willing to rebuild around Bam Adebayo as their primary star just yet, making a move for Hield is likely the level of move that awaits this team in the offseason anyways.

Even the most optimistic of Heat fans can’t believe that they’re going to be able to land a star this offseason, not with the contracts of Duncan Robinson and Kyle Lowry still on the books. The move would be costly but it may make the most sense in an attempt to maximize the Jimmy Butler build. Let’s get the Heat back to being a good shooting team and see what happens.
