The case against Buddy Hield for the Miami Heat

While making a move for Buddy Hield would in theory sound good for the Miami Heat, there’s no guarantee that it’s something the front office and management would all sign off on. For one, any move for Hield will likely cost the Heat either two future first-round picks or a future first-round pick and a young player.

That’s essentially two assets that the Heat would have to part ways with that would return no guarantee for the team. And that would be a tough pill to swallow for the camp in the front office (Pat Riley) that is involved in big game hunting.

I don’t think there’s much doubt that Hield would improve the Heat roster and their chances at making a run in the East playoffs. But it’s far from a guarantee that he’d be needle-moving enough of a move that would put this team over the top. And without that guarantee, I’m not sure you can trade two valuable assets for Hield. Not for this team. Not right now.
