Breaking down why an ESPN proposed trade would help jump-start the Golden State Warriors to repeat as NBA champions.

Despite the Golden State Warriors‘ inconsistencies this season, the defending champions are only a handful of games out of the third seed in the Western Conference standings. In what appears to be a wide-open conference, the Warriors could theoretically flip a switch during the second half of the season and find themselves as one of the favorites heading into the playoffs.

Something that else would help is making a significant move at the NBA Trade Deadline. And the good news for the Warriors is that they likely have the necessary pieces to make such a move happen. The question is, do they feel they need to do so to repeat as champions?

The Golden State Warriors may have to trade their young core

The reality is if the Warriors feel they’re a move away from getting back into contention status in the West, they’re likely going to have to trade their young core. Or at least a portion of it. If the Warriors are willing to do so, there could be several options for the team on the table.

And a recent ESPN proposed deadline trade for the Warriors highlights one possibility. It’s also one that I believe would help jump-start this team during the stretch run and put them in a great position to repeat as NBA Champions.
