NBA Trade Rumors: Knicks, Suns could make deadline splash for OG Anunoby
NBA Trade Rumors: The New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns are two teams that could make a big move for OG Anunoby.
The NBA Trade Deadline is a week and a half away and there is still an expectation around the league that there could be some big deals that get done between now and next week. Though, at least one of the big names that may be expected to be moved is officially off the market. After Myles Turner signed an extension with the Indiana Pacers, he’s officially off the trade block.
That said, there are still a few other big names that could end up being moved. And one name that many around the league are keeping a close eye on is Toronto Raptors wing OG Anunoby. In recent weeks, there have been whispers that he could want out and somewhat of an asking price that the Raptors could have for the budding star.
And according to a recent report, two teams that are keeping a close eye on the situation in Toronto are the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks. They’re interested in possibly making a big move for Anunoby ahead of the trade deadline.
A possible Phoenix trade for Anunoby is far more complicated than the Knicks as a possible landing spot. But both would be interesting landing spots for Anunoby. They would give him a fresh start and the opportunity to reach new heights in his career, perhaps even in a starring role (especially in New York).
The Knicks also have the necessary draft capital that the Raptors would likely want in any deal for Anunoby in addition to some young talent that could also be appealing in a deal. The big question is whether or not the Knicks or the Suns would make the offer that the Raptors would want at the deadline.
I’ve never thought of the deadline to be the ideal time to trade a star. Generally, that’s what the offseason is for. But if the Raptors get the right deal, I don’t think it should be entirely out of the question. Will the Knicks get to a place where they offer up everything for Anunoby? Do the Suns want to offer Deandre Ayton? And would he agree to a deal (he could theoretically veto any trade during the first year of his new contract)?
The next week and a half could prove to be quite interesting in the NBA. And Anunoby is one player that all eyes (especially the Knicks and Suns) will be on.
