NBA Trade Rumors: Is Kyle Lowry emerging as a popular trade candidate at the deadline?
The Miami Heat has struggled with inconsistency this season. And even though they are still projected to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, this is still a team that many expect to try and make a big splash at the NBA Trade Deadline.
That could prove to be easier said than done, however. The Heat doesn’t have a ton of assets that they’d be willing to move and have some large contracts on their roster. Nevertheless, this is a front office that is going to try to improve the roster ahead of the stretch run. And the NBA Trade Deadline likely offers the team the best chance at improvement.
And one player that they could theoretically use to improve the roster at the deadline is Kyle Lowry, who has been an odd fit with the team since he was acquired a couple of offseasons ago.
According to a recent report, while it doesn’t seem like the Miami Heat is actively trying to move Kyle Lowry at the moment, he’s a player that continues to garner interest around the league. As we inch closer and closer to the NBA Trade Deadline, it will be interesting to see if the Heat softens their stance at all when it comes to a possible trade of Lowry.
Lowry has struggled through his first season and a half in Miami, from having difficulty remaining healthy to simply not putting up the production that perhaps the team believed it was getting. That said, it’s clear that there is still a calming force when he is on the floor for the Heat.
The counting stats may not be there but he’s still a valuable veteran that has invaluable championship experience. And especially for a franchise such as Miami, I’m not sure that’s something they are going to willingly move at the deadline.
Though, a lot can change between now and the trade deadline. And that’s a big reason why the trade deadline remains one of the most exciting times of the year in the NBA.
Could Kyle Lowry end up being moved? Sure. But at least for now, I’m not sure that’s a likely scenario. Though, it won’t stop teams from doing their due diligence.
