NBA Trade Rumors: Momentum continues to build toward the Toronto Raptors trading OG Anunoby at the NBA Trade Deadline.
Nearly a week out for the NBA Trade Deadline, there are many teams around the league (as you would expect) that are scrambling to understand where the trade market currently stands. And one of the teams that continues to be one of the potential big players heading into the deadline is the Toronto Raptors.
And, all of a sudden, what seemed to be like a pipe dream possibility just a couple of weeks ago is gaining traction heading into next week’s trade deadline. The Raptors are officially taking calls on OG Anunoby, which seems like more and more of a possibility that he could be traded.
Of course, there is a big difference between a team taking trade calls (or inquiries) on a player and actually trading them, but it seems that there has been a ton of momentum over the last couple of weeks that has built toward a potential trade of Anunoby.
Whether Anunoby wants out or if this is the Raptors doing their due diligence, there is some smoke surrounding this narrative. If nothing else, it is certainly something to keep an eye on over the next few days.
The New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns seem to be the most interested in OG Anunoby
If the Raptors do get to a point where they’re going to seriously think about trading Anunoby, it seems that there are two teams that seem to be the most interested in him. The New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns have been mentioned as two teams that have been monitoring the situation revolving around Anunoby in Toronto.
The Knicks’ draft capital has been well-documented and they have the means (and then some) to make a big splash at the trade deadline. The Phoenix Suns could dangle Deandre Ayton as an asset (the Raptors were interested in him before) but that’s far more complicated.
It will be interesting to see what the Raptors ultimately decide to do with Anunoby and if there’s a team out there that is willing to meet their steep asking price for the talented wing.
It adds another wrinkle to the NBA Trade Deadline. At least for now, I still believe that the overwhelming opinion is that Anunoby won’t get traded. But an Anunoby trade is certainly now more realistic of a possibility.
