NBA Trade Rumors: The Brooklyn Nets are interested in making a move for Fred VanVleet or Pascal Siakam after trading Kyrie Irving.

Even after making what will likely end up being the big move of the NBA Trade Deadline, the Brooklyn Nets are still busy trying to upgrade the roster. The Nets traded Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks over the weekend but with still time before the deadline, the team appears to be just getting started.

According to a recent report, in an attempt to upgrade the roster around Kevin Durant (and to keep him happy), the Nets are interested in the possibility of expanding the deal in a way that could net them Pascal Siakam or Fred VanVleet from the Toronto Raptors.

The Nets could try to package the first-round pick that they are going to receive from the Mavs with the picks they received from the Philadelphia 76ers last season in an attempt to put together a very fair package for Toronto. They could even throw in one of their role players to make it worthy for the Raptors, who will likely be headed toward a bigger retooling of their own.

The Brooklyn Nets will likely make another move before the NBA Trade Deadline

The Nets clearly want to remain competitive in the Eastern Conference even after trading Kyrie. But if they are going to do that, one of two things has to happen – Ben Simmons has to be able to reach a level of play that he hasn’t reached in years or the Nets are going to have to find another difference-maker to add to the team before the NBA Trade Deadline.

Quite frankly, it’s no surprise that the Nets are trying to pull off another move at the deadline. Simmons has not been as impressive as perhaps Brooklyn had hoped and he’s probably better off playing a role where he isn’t being leaned on too much by the team.

It won’t be easy for the Nets to pull off what they are attempting, but you can’t blame them for trying. Because we all know what could potentially wait on the other side of the season for the Nets.

If Brooklyn suffers another disappointing playoff exit, there’s a strong chance that Kevin Durant could, once again, demand a trade away from the organization. The Nets don’t have much wiggle room or room for error right now. They have a lot riding on their ability to pull off another move before the trade deadline.
