The Dallas Mavericks will trade Christian Wood

It’ll be interesting to see what the Dallas Mavericks elect to do at the NBA Trade Deadline. After acquiring Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets, you can’t help but wonder if the Mavs’ approach heading into the deadline will change. Under the assumption that the Mavs will have to pay Kyrie during the offseason, will they still want to do that with Wood heading into the offseason?

And if the Mavs’ stance on paying Wood has changed with the move for Kyrie, it would probably be in the best interest of the team to trade him at the NBA Trade Deadline. Or, at the very least, explore the option of moving him.

I predict that the Mavs will trade Wood ahead of the deadline. It simply makes the most sense for Dallas, especially if they want more flexibility to add another piece to this potential core during the offseason. Wood is a good player but I’m sure the feeling around the league is that he’s going to get overpaid this summer.
