NBA Slam Dunk Contest participants

Kenyon Martin Jr.– Houston Rockets

The son of former first-overall pick Kenyon Martin, Kenyon Jr. is also known for his leaping ability. Martin Jr. has already had several crazy dunks to his name midway through his second season. His jumping ability mixed with his lower body power could end up being a deadly combo in this weekend’s contest

Jericho Sims – New York Knicks

Shaedon Sharpe was initially in the Slam Dunk Contest but recently withdrew from the event and was replaced by Jericho Sims. Sims is a 6-foot-10 athletic big that has showcased more than enough bounce to make some waves in the contest. As a late addition, his performance should be interesting.

Trey Murphy III– New Orleans Pelicans

Trey Murphy was the last announced name for the February 18th dunk contest. This name was more of a shock to the NBA community. To be honest, Murphy was not the name I was expecting, although he does have some sneaky bounce and explosiveness. It will be interesting to see how Murphy fairs in the dunk contest.

Mac McClung– Delaware Blue Coats (G-league)

The most unexpected of selections for the dunk contest was Mac McClung. McClung was a part of the Warriors pre-season squad, and he played well before being let go, but that did not stop him from getting his name into the dunk contest. The Blue Coats guard will be the first NBA G-league player to participate in the event. If you have had the opportunity to see McClung dunk the ball, then you already know his chances of winning are very real.

Favorite: Kenyon Martin Jr.

Sleeper pick: Mac McClung
