Do the Phoenix Suns have enough depth?

We all know what Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton are capable of. But there has to be a level of concern considering the injury history of these star players. If one of them has to sit out for a significant time, will Monty Williams have the confidence to trust his bench and expand his rotation?

The trio of stars has all missed time due to injuries this season already and we are just a little passed the halfway point in the season. They all have also missed time during key playoff series during their careers in the past. Booker missed three of the Suns’ 1st round playoff games against the New Orleans Pelicans last season as the Suns struggled to put them away.

Paul has had more than his fair share of unfortunate injuries in the postseason. Paul missed the final two games of a 7-game series in the 2018 Western Conference Finals as a member of the Houston Rockets as they were up 3-2. He also missed the final two games back in 2017 during a first-round series in which they lost 4-2 as a member of the LA Clippers.

The most devastating moment for Durant happened on the NBA’s biggest stage. The Golden State Warriors faced off against the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals, and with the Warriors struggling and searching for an edge to get back in the series down 3-1, Durant made his return to the starting lineup.

After a dominant 1st quarter, Durant ended up tearing his Achilles and was forced to miss the entire season the following year. The hope is to see this Suns team intact and healthy once the playoffs begin but who do they have just in case?
