Timeline of contention for the Utah Jazz

In interviews and press conferences from the day he was hired, Danny Ainge has voiced that Utah is on a 24-to-36-month plan. Meaning they intend to take the next two to three years to build a championship-contending roster.

I believe the reason Ainge made the trade with Los Angeles and Minnesota was to benefit the Jazz down the road, not at this point in time. Acquiring 15 first-round picks gives Utah flexibility to make trades whenever they’re presented.

I don’t believe the rebuild was sped up due to Utah’s fast start of the season; it merely highlighted what the Jazz can be down the road, a team that is tough to play night in and night out. The future in Utah is bright with an array of possibilities.
