There have been rumors that LA Clippers forward Paul George has campaigned for Westbrook to join the team. A former teammate of George’s as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Westbrook showed character and humility while with the Lakers as he agreed to come off the bench.

While the critics view him as a problematic player, Westbrook can still be a valuable asset on a championship contender. It’s already understood that Kawhi Leonard and George are the alphas so all Westbrook would have to do is mesh with the second unit and develop chemistry while on the floor with Leonard and George as well making their jobs easier.

The Clippers also lack a true traditional point guard who can facilitate and they need a player who can handle the ball in key situations. The situation with the Clippers can be a unique fit because he doesn’t have to shoot the ball as much and can just take what the defense allows him to have. The Clippers also have a plethora of players who can shoot the ball so Westbrook can drive-and-dish, finding the open players while facilitating.

At this point, a gamble on Westbrook could pay off, especially in a stacked Western Conference. The Clippers are 15th in the NBA in points in the paint so that is an area Westbrook can focus on in order to help the team.
