8. New Orleans Pelicans (via LAL) – Cason Wallace, G, Kentucky

This pick is somewhat of a luxury for the New Orleans Pelicans. They have clearly made strides in their rebuild and adding another high draft pick should be viewed as icing on the cake. So this is a position where the Pelicans can be a bit risky. They could roll the dice on a player that perhaps may need a couple of years to truly develop as a contributor.

One player that somewhat fits that mold is Cason Wallace, a guard out of Kentucky. He’s a player that you can expect to put in the work and truly develop his game. The problem is that there are some serious questions surrounding his ability to truly impact the game on the offensive end as a guard.

And that could open the door for him to ultimately fall out of the lottery. But if the Pelicans are willing to take a risk on a developmental player, Wallace may be the best one (at his position) at this point in the draft.
