With the Atlanta Hawks dismissing head coach Nate McMillan, I believe Quin Snyder is the best option for the franchise to move forward.
Amid a disappointing 29-30 regular season thus far, the Atlanta Hawks have somewhat surprisingly dismissed Nate McMillan from his post as the team’s head coach. That leads us to another question, who should replace McMillan? While there are several quality candidates, I believe that one stands above the rest…former Utah Jazz head coach (and former Hawks assistant) Quin Snyder.
What makes moving on from McMillan surprising is the timing of it more than anything. It’s rare to see a team, especially one in playoff contention, elect to fire their coach with just 23 games remaining. That timing is part of what makes the Hawks coaching vacancy so interesting.
Did the team make the move in order to get a jumpstart on the offseason coaching carousel (while hoping that new interim coach Joe Prunty can make a difference similar to how McMillan did in 2021 when the Hawks moved on from Lloyd Pierce mid-season), or do they have a candidate in mind that they are hoping to expeditiously bring in and hope he can kickstart a team currently sitting 8th in the East in the middle of the play-in race?
Quin Snyder should be one of the Atlanta Hawks’ top choices to replace Nate McMillan
Either way, I believe that Snyder is the top candidate. Snyder is a name that is being linked to the Hawks (as he has many openings since he stepped down in Utah last year). I believe he is the best candidate; let’s explore three reasons why.
