Los Angeles Lakers pie chart of blame if they miss the NBA playoffs
The head coach
In his first year on the job, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham was put in an absolutely impossible position. Not only was he tasked with the job of having to balance this team’s superstars but also do so while managing and making the best of one of the worst supporting casts in the league (at least at the beginning of the season).
Nevertheless, Ham did the best he could. And in his first season, it would be poor taste to divvy up that much blame for him. Then again, he is the coach for the Los Angeles Lakers – one of the most prestigious jobs in professional sports. While I’m sure he did his best, it’s not like he made lemonade out of lemons.
I’m not even sure if we know if Ham is good or bad at his job just yet. But, at least for now, we have to give him the benefit of the doubt. In an impossible position, he managed to keep all the issues under wraps. Should he get some credit for that?
Ham gets a little blame, that’s all.
