And the biggest reason why is a simple one – this is a team that elected to stand pat at the NBA Trade Deadline and not make a big move to shake up the roster. Because of that, this is a team that has to show some promise to close the season.

The last thing the Raptors need is to miss the playoffs heading into what will likely end up being a big offseason for the franchise. They have several big decisions to make and not qualifying for the postseason this year would make each of those decisions that much more complicated.

The Raptors are currently in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings and, quite frankly, this is a team whose talent doesn’t mirror a ninth-place team. The Raptors have underperformed this season and need to figure out how to flip the switch heading into the final few weeks of the regular season.
