The LA Clippers decided to completely retool their backcourt at the NBA Trade Deadline. They added Eric Gordon, Bones Hyland, and Russell Westbrook recently. The hope was that these moves would ignite the team and help them flip the switch to contender status over the final few weeks of the regular season and into the playoffs. That hasn’t happened just yet.

The team has gotten off to a rough start since the acquisition of Russell Westbrook and there’s understandable hesitance regarding how this team will be viewed heading into the postseason. The good news is that this team is in a good place in the West standings.

The other additional piece of good news is the fact that Kawhi Leonard and Paul George seem to be rounding into form. As long as those two are healthy and in a right place, the Clippers are going to have a shot to win the West. But the next few weeks will be about whether or not the team’s supporting cast is able to hit its stride heading into the playoffs.
