The Dallas Mavericks are the “other” team that made one of the biggest moves of the NBA Trade Deadline. The Mavs acquired Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets in an attempt to secure a second superstar to place next to Luka Doncic. And while they accomplished that on paper, the Mavericks have struggled a bit since the acquisition.

Something has to give sooner or later. But without much time remaining before the start of the playoffs, the Mavs need to flip the switch. They don’t have much wiggle room and are currently 7th in the Western Conference standings. They need to figure out an identity soon before they fall out of the playoff picture entirely.

The Mavs took the risk and acquired Kyrie. It has yet to pay off and at this point, there has to be some concern about whether it will end up working out or not. And the Mavs don’t have much time to figure it out. If they have another level to reach, they must do so quickly.
