5. Detroit Pistons – Nick Smith Jr., G, Arkansas

If Nick Smith Jr. hadn’t had to battle injuries throughout his freshman season at Arkansas, there’s a very good chance that he would be talked about more heading into the NBA Draft. And while he has shown some promise as of late, I’d have to imagine that he’s going to have to build his draft stock up in pre-draft workouts.

I believe that he has the talent and potential to jump into the top 5. If the Detroit Pistons take a chance on Smith, it could open the door to even more endless potential for this team and the core that they’ve put together. They already have a lead guard on their roster in Jaden Ivey, but the Pistons shouldn’t pass on such a great talent.

Next season, the Pistons are going to be one of those teams that could make a big jump. And their young talent is going to be a big reason why. Adding another top 5 to the Pistons seems unfair to the rest of the rebuilding teams.
