2. Minnesota Timberwolves
Heading into this season, there were some that believed the Minnesota Timberwolves could be a top 4 seed in the Western Conference. They made the big move for Rudy Gobert and went all-in on this season and this core. It, for lack of a better phrase, hasn’t worked out for the team so far this season.
In fairness, Karl-Anthony Towns has missed most of the season due to an injury.
It should be noted, though, that far before Towns’ injury, this was a team that was already viewed as a big disappointment. So while that’s part of the reason why this team has left a lot to be desired this season, I’m not sure that can be the team’s only excuse for a disappointing season.
Maybe the team makes up for it in the postseason but I find that hard to believe, even if Towns somehow makes it back for the playoffs (if the Wolves can get there). Minnesota will have to show some real promise next season or there are going to be some big questions that this team will need to answer about its future.
