NBA Draft: 10 must-watch prospects in the 2023 NCAA Tournament
By Tyler Hurst
3. Keyonte George – Baylor
Keyonte George is one of the most explosive scorers in all of college basketball and is expected to carry that same scoring prowess to the NBA. There were only eight games this year in which he did not score in double figures, and when he is on, he is a fireball waiting to happen. He’s the type of player that once he sees the ball go through the hoop once, it’s off to the races from there.
Averaging 16 a game this year, George has a crafty way of getting to every single one of his spots on the floor and creating space through a variety of pull-ups and step-back moves. He is one of the most creative finishers in all of college basketball and is a dream to watch him run the pick and roll. If you’re a fan of a team with a great rim-rolling center in need of a new dance partner, you will definitely be rooting for George to fall your team’s way.
He provides great intensity on the defensive end getting into passing lanes and forcing steals, but there’s just one problem: He is only 6-foot-4. No matter how much intensity he brings, he will be shorter than many of the players he will match up against in the league and that will likely be exploited. However, he is still strong enough to fight through screens and is unlikely to be a total defensive liability.
George and Baylor will face UC Santa Barbara at 12:30 pm on Friday, March 17.
