7. Cason Wallace – Kentucky
In an inconsistent year for coach John Calipari’s Wildcats, freshman guard Cason Wallace has been one of the few to bring a semblance of consistency on a night-to-night basis.
Wallace is one of the best defenders in this year’s upcoming draft and plays much bigger than his 6 -foot-4 frame. He’s made some ridiculous hustle plays this year and has exceptional footwork to stay with any and all scorers he’s matched up against.
A knockdown, spot-up three-point shooter as well, Wallace is able to get his shot off with a quick release from all around the perimeter. If the shot isn’t there, he has also shown an ability to get to his spot along the baseline and beat opponents with floaters.
Wallace is, however, not great at creating his own shot off the dribble and will likely only play off-ball his first few years in the league because of this.
Wallace and Kentucky tip-off against Providence at 6:10 pm on Friday, March 17.
