NBA Rumors: A recent report suggests that Andrew Wiggins is not going to return this season for the Golden State Warriors.

Part of the Golden State Warriors‘ struggles this season has been due to injuries and overall unavailability. It hasn’t been a banner year for the Warriors from that aspect by any means. And with just a few games remaining in the regular season, the team doesn’t have much time to turn their season around.

The Warriors are likely going to head into the playoffs as a fourth or fifth-seed. But if they want to make it back to the NBA Finals, they are going to have a difficult road to getting there. They’re going to need all hands on deck and will need some good luck when it comes to getting healthy.

But that could be easier said than done. One specific player that the team has missed greatly as of late is Andrew Wiggins, who has been away from the team due to a personal issue.

A few days ago, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr addressed the issue and stated that there was still no timetable for when Wiggins could be back with the team. However, Fox Sports radio host Colin Cowherd said recently that he was told that Wiggins is unlikely to return at all this season.

Andrew Wiggins has been missed by the Golden State Warriors

Wiggins has not played in a game since February 13 and it would be truly unfortunate if he’s unable to return at all this season.

Over the past few seasons, Wiggins has emerged as an increasingly important player for the Warriors. He was arguably the team’s second-best player during their championship run a season ago and was off to another great start this season, averaging 17 points and five rebounds on 47 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from 3-point range.

It’s unclear what exactly Wiggins is going through but it seems that whatever he’s dealing with is something that is quite serious. The hope is that everything is relatively OK for Wiggins and his family (if that’s what this is about). And if he doesn’t end up returning this season, it’s probably for the best.

But from a basketball standpoint, it’s going to be unfortunate to watch the Warriors try to defend their title with one of their most important players available. The Warriors will have an uphill climb heading into the postseason.
