Portland Trail Blazers

In what appears to be another lost season for the Portland Trail Blazers, they will have their hands full during the offseason as they try to surround Damian Lillard with the necessary talent to be, at the very least, competitive in the Western Conference next season. While I’m not sure there’s an easy path to accomlish that, one way to do so would be to trade for a veteran star.

And that’s where Jimmy Butler could come into the picture for the Blazers. Jimmy is a no-nonsense star that would likely welcome the opportuinty to play with another throwback star such as Lillard. If they are surrounded by the right pieces, who knows how far this duo could take the Blazers in a semi-open West next season.

There’s no question that the Blazers are going to need to make an addition or two during the offseason. And it would make sense for this team to try and make a big move. The big questions is whether or not making a move for Jimmy would qualify as one that would move the needle for the team in the long run.

If the Heat believes that the team can’t win a champinoship with Jimmy as its best player, it’s probably in the best interest of the team to trade him. And this offseason seems like the ideal time to do so.
