Draymond Green, Golden State Warriors
If the Golden State Warriors don’t make a deep playoff run this season and they won’t be expected to as they enter the NBA Playoffs as a lower-seeded team, there’s a chance that this could be the beginning of the end for this core in Golden State. And the first of the big three to exit stage left may end up being Draymond Green, who is eligible to be a free agent after the season.
It’s difficult to predict what exactly will happen between the Warriors and Draymond during the offseason but there is a scenario where he ends up being signed and traded away. The Warriors have a ton of money already tied up in some of their younger core players and Draymond may be on the outside looking in.
Draymond is 33 years old and his best basketball is already behind him. He did amazing things during his time in Golden State and even if this is the end, it’s nothing to be ashamed about. But these types of endings tend to be difficult to process.
Heading into the offseason, it’s hard not to look at the Warriors and believe that this could end up being the beginning of the end of a dynasty.
