NBA Mock Draft 4.0: Bulls land a new face of the franchise; Lakers make a trade
5. Houston Rockets – Amen Thompson, G, Overtime Elite
From everything that has been reported this season surrounding the Houston Rockets, it really seems like this is a team as currently constructed that lacks some stability. Understandably, that’s difficult to have for such a young roster. However, the hope is that something clicks soon for this team. Adding another top 5 in theory may not be ideal but it will give this team the best chance to take a step forward in the Western Conference standings next season.
One player that could be a fit is Amen Thompson. At 6-foot-7, he’s a bit playmaking guard that could help Jalen Green and his development as a more consistent offensive threat. Thompson still has some strides to make on the offensive end of the floor, and his defense will be an added tool for this young team, but there is plenty to like about Thompson’s potential moving forward.
Amen is far from a sure thing in this year’s NBA Draft but getting him at No. 5 could be a steal. This is a prospect that could end up claiming into the top 4 or even in the top 3 if he measures out well in the pre-draft process.
