Ja Morant’s suspension is officially over but he still doesn’t have a definite return date. When could he possibly return for the Memphis Grizzlies?

As the Memphis Grizzlies look to right the ship heading into the postseason, they’re about to get the spark that could potentially ignite them forward through the final stretch of the regular season.

Ja Morant’s suspension is officially over and he’s eligible to play Monday night when the Grizzlies host the Dallas Mavericks. However, it seems that Morant’s return is going to have to wait a few more days. Morant has missed the Grizzlies’ last eight games (due to suspension) and now that his suspension is over, it’s officially a waiting game for his official return.

Memphis has officially listed Morant out for Monday’s game against the Mavericks, but the hope is that he will return to the team’s lineup sooner rather than later. It’s not exactly surprising that Morant remains out for the Grizzlies considering he likely needs to work his way back into shape after taking a couple of weeks off from basketball activities.

When could we see Ja Morant back in the lineup for the Memphis Grizzlies?

I’ve maintained that I believe the best chance we see Morant back with the team is either Wednesday, March 22, or Friday, March 24. The Grizzlies play the Houston Rockets on both of those nights and, with all due respect to Houston, I believe those are both soft landing spots where we could see the Grizzlies try to slowly reintroduce Morant back into real basketball situations.

Could it take longer? Sure. But with the Grizzlies in a battle for the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, I’d have to imagine that we’re probably going to see Morant make a return sooner rather than later now that he’s officially eligible to return.

It’ll be interesting to see what the response is when Morant does return and how he handles all the media attention that he’s going to get once he officially steps back into the Grizzlies’ locker room.

Plus, not to mention how the Grizzlies close the season from a basketball perspective. This is a team that has struggled over the last few weeks. Maybe Morant, with a new view on life and the NBA, could give this team the fire and desire that it’s been missing. Morant’s return is coming soon, just not as soon as perhaps some believed.
