How many games do the Golden State Warriors need to win?

Looking at the teams that the Warriors are fighting for that attracting 6th spot in the West standings, I believe that they will have to get to 42 wins. That means that the Warriors will have to go, at least, 5-4 the rest of the way. And looking at their schedule to close the regular season, I don’t think that’s an unfair ask.

The first two games are difficult but there’s a chance the Warriors could get the one against the Dallas Mavericks, even on the road. There’s a chance that both Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic will miss that game and if that is indeed the case, the Warriors should win it. I wouldn’t bet on the Warriors beating the Philadelphia 76ers (even at home).

After those two games, the Warriors have a crucial three-game homestand in which they host the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, and San Antonio Spurs. Winning all of those games or even two of three would put the Warriors in a great position heading into the final week of the season.

The Warriors close the year with a road game against the Denver Nuggets, return home to face the Oklahoma City Thunder, and then two road games against the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers.

The Warriors have to be able to find five wins in that stretch. And if they do, they will be able to avoid the Play-In Tournament and potentially get a favorable first-round matchup in the NBA Playoffs against the Sacramento Kings or Memphis Grizzlies.
