LeBron James may have to save the day for the Los Angeles Lakers as he eyes a return during the final week of the regular season.
There are nine games remaining in the regular season for the Los Angeles Lakers. In other words, there are only nine games left for the Lakers to change the narrative of the season and salvage it from one perspective. However, at the moment, there is still plenty that needs to be played out.
The Lakers may be clinging to the 10th spot in the Western Conference standings at the moment, but it’s something that is constantly changing. One losing streak could end up tanking the Lakers’ playoff chances while a 2-3 game winning streak could go a long way in cementing their spot in the Play-In Tournament.
While the Lakers have done a great job in remaining in the playoff picture, LeBorn James’ injury hasn’t made it any easier for the team to lock up a spot in the top 10. And that may not happen until LeBron does return, which, thankfully, is looking more and more like it will happen before the end of the regular season.
LeBron James will likely only return for the final few games of the regular season
The latest update (even though LeBron went to Twitter to try to knock it) suggested that LeBron is aiming to be back for the final week of the regular season. LeBron being back for the Lakers’ last three games of the season may be what it takes for them to finally clinch a spot in the Play-In.
The Lakers have performed well without LeBron but it hasn’t been enough for the team to get out of that dangerous 10th spot. LeBron may need to come in and save the day to drag the Lakers over the hump.
The funny thing is that even if the Lakers do make it into the Play-In Tournament as the 9th or 10th seed, they still have their work cut out for them. They’ll have to win two-straight games to officially qualify for the postseason.
That is something that is more difficult than it sounds.
The good news is that it appears LeBron is nearing a return. And the even greater news is that it seems he will be back as the Lakers attempt to cement their place as a Play-In Tournament team in the Western Conference.
The question is, can the Lakers hold on until LeBron’s return?
