NBA Rumors: All of a sudden, there are many signs that are pointing to a possible end of an era for the LA Clippers.

When the LA Clippers originally acquired both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George during the 2019 NBA offseason, the hope was that it was going to be the start of a new era for the Clippers. One that would not end in disappointment and, instead, hopefully, bring forth an NBA Championship for two.

That hasn’t exactly happened yet and heading into this offseason, it doesn’t look like it will. The Clippers have been inconsistent all season long and are now dealing with another hurdle – there’s a chance that Paul George is done for the season due to a recent injury.

While that remains unsettled, there’s a very real chance that this postseason run could be the final shot for this Clippers core to get the job done. If the Clippers falter early in the postseason again, it will bring about big questions for this team. And this offseason may be the ideal time for the Clippers to hit the reset button if they’re looking to do that soon.

Both Kawhi and PG will essentially be entering the final years of their current contracts and if they want to recoup any assets for these star players, this would be the offseason to do so.

LA Clippers coach Tyronn Lue could step down after the season

Adding to speculation regarding the potential breakup of this core is added mystery surrounding head coach Tyronn Lue. According to a recent report, there are rumblings that Lue could elect to step down from his role with the team this offseason.

If there is any truth to this rumor, you’d have to assume that there’s at least a chance that the feeling inside the organization is that this is somewhat of a make-or-break season for this Clippers era.

And it actually shouldn’t be all that surprising. The duo of Kawin and PG never seemed to work. But the sad part of it all is the fact that it mostly didn’t work due to injuries. Who knows what happens if Kawhi had never injured his knee in the conference finals two seasons ago?

That seemed like the Clippers’ best shot at winning a title and it’s unfortunate that we never got to see them truly compete for one while fully healthy.

The Clippers are suddenly another team to keep an eye on heading into the offseason. Could they be a teal that decides to blow it all up this summer?
