21. Brooklyn Nets – Kris Murray, F, Iowa
With another first-round pick, the Brooklyn Nets could take a shot on a more developed prospect. One prospect that would fit the description is Kris Murray out of Iowa. During his junior season, he averaged 20 points and eight rebounds on 48 percent shooting from the field.
I honestly don’t have much handle on Murray as a prospect or how he’s going to be viewed over the next couple of months. He’s not the player that his young brother is, but you’d have to think that he could provide some value late in the first round.
22. Miami Heat – Jordan Hawkins G, UCONN
If the Miami Heat makes this selection with the intent of keeping this player, I believe that it would be in their best interest to try and add a player that could shoot the basketball. It’s one of the bigger reasons why the Heat has struggled so much this season and it would be foolish if they didn’t make an effort on that front.
One prospect that would make a lot of sense is Jordan Hawkins out of UCONN. During his sophomore season, Hawkins averaged 16 points on 38 percent shooting from 3-point range (on nearly seven attempts per contest). Hawkins wouldn’t solve the team’s 3-point shooting issues, but he could certainly help.
