NBA Mock Draft 5.0: Detroit Pistons create young super team; big-name is traded
25. Indiana Pacers (via Cleveland Cavaliers) – Trayce Jackson-Davis, F, Indiana
It’s not every day that you see 23 years old be drafted in the NBA, but Trayce Jackson-Davis is certainly a player that could be an exception. He’s had a great career at Indiana and could be ready to dip his toe in the NBA waters. During a successful season at Tennessee, TJD averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists on 58 percent shooting from the field.
If the Indiana Pacers are looking for a player that can come in and potentially play a role for the team right away, TJD may be the prospect to target. Does he have concerns? Absolutely. But at the same time, it’s hard to see how a player that productive in college can’t have some sort of impact in the NBA.
26. Memphis Grizzlies – Julian Phillips, F, Tennessee
As a raw, athletic slasher, Julian Phillips is a prospect that could make some sense for a team like the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies have become one of the best developmental franchises in the league and Phillips is a player that can develop slowly behind the scenes before being thrown into the fire.
He’s talented and could emerge as a rotation player in 2-3 years.
