27. Utah Jazz (via Philadelphia 76ers) – Julian Strawther, G, Gonzaga
With a third first-round pick in this year’s NBA Draft, the Utah Jazz could look to target a sharpshooting guard. One prospect that could be in play for the Jazz is Julian Strawther. He emerged as a real difference-maker for Gonzaga this season and had a huge moment for the team in the Sweet 16.
During his junior season, Strawther averaged 15 points and six rebounds on 42 percent shooting from 3-point range. If he can shoot at that rate at the next level, there’s no question that he can be a contributor. It’s more about landing in the right situation for Strawther.
28. Charlotte Hornets (via Denver Nuggets) – Jaime Jaquez Jr., F, UCLA
As the Charlotte Hornets continue to retool their roster, another pick late in the first round could be more valuable than initially thought. One prospect that I believe could continue rising up NBA Draft boards is Jaime Jaquez Jr. Is he a bit undersized? Sure. But he’s proven to be a gamer at UCLA and seems to be always making the right play when needed for the Bruins.
During his senior season, JJJ has averaged 18 points and eight rebounds on 48 percent shooting from the field. If he can put his 3-point shooting concerns to bed in pre-draft workouts, he could very well be a first-round selection.
