With just six games left in the regular season, the Dallas Mavericks have an increasingly uphill battle to make the NBA Playoffs.

For teams that are looking to make one final push toward the NBA Playoffs, time is running out. There are officially less than two weeks remaining in the regular season, which will lead right into the Play-In Tournament. One team that is trying to make a very late-season push in an attempt to salvage what can be salvaged at this point is the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavs currently find themselves on the outside looking in of the NBA’s playoff picture and just have six games remaining on their schedule. If they’re going to even make the Play-In Tournament, they are likely going to have to play near-perfect basketball over the final week and a half of the season.

Considering how inconsistent the team has been as of late, that seems like a big ask. And their schedule to close out the season is not easy. It’s safe to say that the Mavs have quite the uphill road to climb if they’re even going to make the Play-In Tournament this season.

The Dallas Mavericks have been disappointing this season

It’s been quite a disappointing season for the Mavs. Even though they lost Jalen Brunson in free agency last offseason, I’m not sure many expected this team to be a fringe playoff team in the West. Even less so after the team went all-in at the NBA Trade Deadline and made the move to add Kyrie Irving.

If the Mavs are going to have even a puncher’s shot to officially make the NBA Playoffs, not only are they going to have to play much more consistent basketball over the final six games of the season but they’re also going to need some help.

I’d imagine that the Mavs have to win at least 3-4 of their final six games. In addition to that, they probably need one of the Oklahoma City Thunder or the Los Angeles Lakers to fall back over the last week and a half.

But with how both of those teams have played recently, that’s looking more and more like something that’s unlikely to happen.

It’s unfortunate how the ending of the season is beginning to shape for the Mavs. After making a surprising run to the Western Conference Finals last season, the Mavs have taken a huge step back this season. And it’ll be back to the drawing board this offseason.
