Los Angeles Lakers
There is speculation that the Los Angeles Lakers are going to run back their roster heading into next season and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. However, if there’s a chance that the Lakers could add Damian Lillard this offseason, there’s nothing that should stand in the way of the front office doing everything in its power to make that happen. Even if it does come at the cost of backtracking on every move that the team made at the NBA Trade Deadline.
If the Lakers could trade every possible available future first-round pick and net Lillard, I don’t see why they shouldn’t do that. You can make an argument that the team could figure out the rest later and that the trio of Lillard, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis would be enough to go all-in on.
And considering that LeBron has maybe one or two high-quality years left, why shouldn’t the Lakers be willing to make such a move?
I’m not sure if a trio of Lillard, LeBron, and AD, surrounded by veterans, is enough to win a championship next season but they’d absolutely be one of the few favorites heading into the start of the season.
