The Los Angeles Lakers have two superstars

When you strip everything away and mute all the noise that has surrounded the Los Angeles Lakers for the majority of the season, there’s one thing that you simply can’t ignore. And it’s the fact that, despite all their struggles and everything, this is still a team that is led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Aside from the Phoenix Suns (who have Kevin Durant and Devin Booker), is there another duo in the West that anyone would take over LA’s? I’m not sure there is. And because of their superstar duo, the Lakers should have a shot to win on any given night in the playoffs. Everything else is just added confidence for this team heading into the postseason.

Should the Lakers be favored against any team they face in the first round of the NBA Playoffs? Absolutely not. They wouldn’t deserve that. At the same time, I would have a hard time understanding them being completely overlooked as a potential dark horse threat in any playoff series.

Especially this year where there doesn’t seem to be a clear-cut favorite in the West. It was an uneven season for the Lakers, but a special run by this team over the next few weeks could end up changing the narrative of the year.
