Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are an interesting team. They made the big move to go all-in with Rudy Gobert last offseason and it really hasn’t paid much yet. The Wolves are still a fringe playoff team in the Western Conference but perhaps a lot of that is due to the injury that cost Karl-Anthony Towns the majority of this season. We don’t know. However, KAT seems like a player that is getting closer and closer to possibly needing a fresh start.

The Wolves haven’t done much with him as the team’s No. 1 frontman and have found recent success thanks to the Anthony Edwards draft pick a few years ago. That doesn’t mean KAT hasn’t been a big part of their recent winning, but you’d have to wonder whether KAT would be better suited on another team – and whether the Wolves would rather have the assets that KAT would return via trade than KAT’s on-the-court presence.

It’s something that both sides will eventually have to think about. Especially if the team comes to the conclusion that he doesn’t fit with Rudy Gobert and if KAT honestly believes he could benefit from a fresh start.

The Wolves and KAT, specifically, are one relationship to keep an eye on heading into the offseason. Especially if they flame out unceremoniously in the postseason.
