The smoke surrounding Jaylen Brown and his situation with the Boston Celtics continues to develop. It all started with his comments a few weeks ago but now there have been added details from others around the league that may you think that there’s a non-zero chance that Brown could end up seeking a trade this offseason. Especially if the Celtics are somewhat hesitant to give him the max extension that he’s going to be in line for.

I do believe that a lot of what happens this offseason between Brown and the Celtics will be dictated by how this team performs in the postseason. If they end up winning the championship, I have a hard time believing that the Celtics won’t give Brown a max extension. However, if they falter before the NBA Finals, it will only add more uncertainty regarding his potential future with the team.

If Brown wanted a change of scenery, this offseason would be the time for him to do so. He still has one year remaining on his current deal but could try to force his way to a certain specific situation if he wanted behind the scenes. This offseason should be an interesting one for the Celtics.
