4. Anthony Davis and LeBron James need to remain healthy

Lastly, and something that should be a given in this scenario, if the Los Angeles Lakers are going to make a deep playoff run that could end with them reaching the NBA Finals, they need Anthony Davis and LeBron James to hold up from a health standpoint for the remainder of the season.

And considering the number of games that they’ve missed this season due to a myriad of circumstances, the odds that they don’t miss another game aren’t great. And it would be quite unfortunate if this ends up being the reason why the Lakers aren’t able to make a deep run in the postseason. But it wouldn’t be surprising.

The Lakers are about to embark on attempting to do something unprecedented. Teams can’t pull off the unprecedented if they’re not at full health. LeBron and AD need to fuel the Lakers over the next few weeks. And if they are healthy, they’re going to at least have a shot to do something special.

In the end, it would be extremely surprising if the Lakers did end up making a deep playoff run. But there’s no question that if there’s a lower-seeded team out there that can do it, it’s the Lakers. The question is, can they get it done?
